Digital Life Skills — Seeing Your True Self Through Digital Traces
Skill Overview
Digital Life is a set of humanistic self-archaeology tools that use digital traces as evidence. By analyzing your social media history and online behavior patterns, it helps you see your true self.
Best Use Cases
1. Self-Reflection on Social Media
When you realize you spend too much time on social media and want to understand what these hours have shaped in you, you can use this tool to analyze your post history, how your follow lists have changed, and your interaction patterns—so you can recognize recurring behaviors and unconscious preferences.
2. Organizing Your Digital Legacy
Whether you’re deleting accounts, cleaning up your data, or simply putting the past in order, this tool can generate a comprehensive digital-legacy report. What does the time you spent online translate to in terms of life? What are your most important digital traces? If you disappeared tomorrow, what would you leave behind online?
3. Self-Awareness and Growth
By using your “past lives” to trace the origins of your fixations, doing “social-death archaeology” to accept the version of yourself from back then, using an “AI doppelgänger” to discover your real speaking habits, and reading your “epitaph” to think about how to spend the rest of your life—this isn’t meant to shame your past self, but to understand and surpass those repeating patterns.
Core Features
1. Cross-Platform Data Collection and Analysis
Supports data collection from major platforms such as Weibo, Zhihu, Douban, Xiaohongshu, and GitHub. You can describe your habits directly, or use browser automation to fetch your personal pages, or provide exported chat logs. The tool extracts behavioral features and does not save your original text content.
2. Five Self-Archaeology Tools
3. Local Privacy Protection
All analysis is performed locally and no data is uploaded to servers. The generated profile retains only the analysis of behavior patterns, not your original text. Before each analysis, historical snapshots are saved, supporting additions, corrections, and version rollbacks.
FAQs
What platforms can Digital Life analyze?
Currently supported for data collection: Weibo, Zhihu, Douban, Xiaohongshu, GitHub, and more. For Weibo, Zhihu, and Douban, Xiaohongshu, you need to log in via your browser first and then the tool will use automation to retrieve data. For GitHub, data can be collected via public links. For WeChat, you need to provide exported chat log files. If you don’t want to collect data, you can also simply describe your behavior habits directly—analysis can be started in just three sentences.
Is this tool safe? Will it upload my privacy?
Completely safe. All analysis is done locally and no data is uploaded to any server. The tool only extracts behavioral features and patterns and does not save your original text content. The generated profile file is also stored locally. Please note, when sharing your analysis results, pay attention to privacy and avoid exposing identifiable personal information.
What can the analysis help me with?
This isn’t a psychological counseling tool, but a mirror for self-reflection. It helps you see recurring behavior patterns, understand who you were, and uncover unconscious preferences—ultimately aiming to help you keep living with greater self-awareness. If you find yourself experiencing serious psychological distress, it’s recommended that you seek help from a professional mental health counselor.
