Claude Speed Reader - Claude Code Fast Reading Skill

Skill Overview

Claude Speed Reader is a Claude Code skill that uses RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation) technology and Spritz-style ORP (Optimal Recognition Point) highlighting to let you quickly read Claude's responses at speeds of 600+ WPM.

Use Cases

  • Reading Claude's long responses: When Claude generates long code, documentation, or explanations, use the /speed command to quickly scan the content and save time scrolling through it.
  • Processing large volumes of AI output: When you need to rapidly digest bulk text, code suggestions, or technical documents generated by Claude Code, the word-by-word display mode makes information processing more efficient.
  • Improving reading efficiency: Suitable for heavy Claude users who want to boost information-processing speed; by reducing eye movement (saccades), you can achieve 2–3× normal reading speed.
  • Key Features

  • RSVP speed reading: Uses Rapid Serial Visual Presentation to display words one at a time at a fixed position, eliminating eye movements and boosting reading speed to 600+ WPM.
  • ORP optimal recognition point highlighting: The letter approximately one-third into each word is highlighted in red—the natural focus point of the brain. By fixing the ORP position, eye saccades (which account for 80% of reading time) are greatly reduced.
  • Flexible controls: Supports Space to play/pause, Left/Right arrow keys to adjust speed (±50 WPM), R to restart, V to paste new text, and also supports click-to-toggle and drag-and-drop text files.
  • FAQ

    What is Claude Speed Reader?

Claude Speed Reader is a Claude Code skill that uses RSVP technology and Spritz-style ORP highlighting to let you quickly read Claude's responses at speeds of 600+ WPM. It displays text word by word at a fixed position, eliminating eye saccades and enabling 2–3× normal reading speed.

How do I install and use it?

Clone it into the Claude skills directory with the following command:
    git clone https://github.com/SeanZoR/claude-speed-reader.git ~/.claude/skills/speed

After installation, type /speed in Claude Code to launch the speed reader and read the last response, or use /speed "custom text" to read specified content.

    What keyboard shortcuts are supported?

  • Space: Play/Pause

  • : Adjust speed (±50 WPM)

  • R: Restart

  • V: Paste new text

  • Clicking anywhere also toggles play/pause, and drag-and-drop of text files is supported.
