Human Writing – A Chinese Writing and Editing Skill for a Human Feel

Skill Overview

Human Writing is a general-purpose skill for Chinese writing and editing. It covers Zhihu answers, WeChat public account articles, blog posts, novels, spoken scripts, and other genres. By checking materials before writing, verifying real-world content, and conducting a strict compliance review after the first draft, it makes the finished work read like something a real person would say.

Applicable Scenarios

  1. Long-form Chinese internet content: Zhihu answers, forum posts, WeChat public account articles, blogs, reviews, and industry analysis. First confirm that the materials can support the intended length, then write according to the natural rhythm of long-form Chinese posts, avoiding vague institutional language and slogan-heavy speechmaking.
  2. Fictional writing: novels, stories, dialogue, and scripts. Characters, settings, and plots may be invented, but each character’s goals, actions, and causal connections must remain coherent, and every scene must contain something that happens.
  3. Editing and removing AI-like phrasing: Check the draft item by item against a list of hard prohibitions, including reversal-style phrasing, parallel structures of three or more items, em dashes, signaling colons, and corporate jargon. The scripts/check_prose.py script may also be run to eliminate all prohibited elements.

Core Functions

  1. Material sufficiency check: Before writing a long piece on a real-world topic, list at least five specific pieces of material and identify their sources. If the material is insufficient, conduct further research, ask questions, or narrow the topic. It is better to submit a shorter piece based on solid material than to pad the word count with fabricated examples and repetitive explanations.
  2. Dual-track rules for reality and fiction: For real-world content, verify facts, quotations, data, and the user’s personal experiences, and do not invent unsourced details. For fiction, create characters and plots as authorized, while checking that every scene is supported by a character’s goal and a meaningful change.
  3. Human-like writing methods and editing scripts: Before writing, determine the speaker’s position. During writing, get to the point quickly, introduce subjects and actions early, and move one new development forward in each paragraph. After completing the first draft, load the editing rules and use the script to eliminate prohibited punctuation and sentence patterns.

Frequently Asked Questions

What genres can this Skill write?

In nonfiction, it covers Zhihu answers, forum posts, WeChat public account articles, blog posts, commentary, biographical stories, historical narratives, news and industry analysis, popular science, tutorials, reviews, and personal narratives. In fiction, it covers novels, stories, and dialogue. It also provides specialized handling rules for spoken scripts, speeches, screenplays, poetry, and other forms.

How does it avoid AI-like and model-like language?

It works on three levels. Before writing, it checks whether the materials are sufficient and does not allow repeated explanations of abstract ideas to pad the piece. During writing, it requires the opening to get to the matter at hand quickly, brings subjects and actions in early, and removes institutional language, marketing language, and model-favored jargon. After the first draft, it checks the piece against a list of hard prohibitions covering reversal-style sentences, structurally identical parallelism, em dashes, signaling colons, and jargon. The check_prose.py script can be run to verify that all such elements have been cleared.

What should be done when there is not enough material for a real-world topic?

The Skill prohibits forcing the piece out. For fact-based topics, search publicly available materials first and recount after conducting research. For topics that depend on personal experience, ask the user no more than three questions in a single round. If the user does not permit follow-up questions and the material remains insufficient after research, narrow the topic and produce a short piece of around 600 Chinese characters, without padding it with unsourced typical scenarios or fabricated details.
